Expert Witness RICS was founded to address the growing need for high professional standards in the expert witness industry. Since it became possible to sue experts in negligence, the importance of competency and accreditation has never been greater. We recognized that parties who instruct expert witnesses deserve reassurance that their experts meet the highest standards of expertise and professionalism.
Our practice is built on the principles of impartiality, professionalism, and best practice. Every surveyor in our team holds the RICS accredited expert witness certificate through the expert witness accreditation service (EWAS). This charter demonstrates their commitment to maintaining high standards and complying with professional standards.
We provide expert evidence across a wide range of property matters, from boundary disputes to complex building surveying issues. Our experts act as expert witnesses in courts, tribunals, and arbitration proceedings. They understand their duty to the court or tribunal and never oppose the truth, regardless of which party instructs them.
The practice statement for expert witnesses guides our work. We ensure full compliance with Civil Procedure Rules Part 35, and our team regularly undertakes dedicated training through online workshops and online learning. The course tutors who deliver our expert witness training are themselves experienced in cross-examination and understand the issues across all aspects of expert witness work.
Beyond acting as expert witnesses, we also provide dispute resolution service (DRS), where our accredited professionals can act as arbitrator or adjudicator. We excel at producing joint statements with opposing experts, facilitating efficient resolution of disputes across land and property matters.
